ARCCOPS supports the study by the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) which discredits an annual report that falsely claims law enforcement officers disproportionately uses force against people of color. The reports by the Racial and Identity Profiling Advisory Board (RIPA) “failed to achieve the professional statistical rigor that is necessary to draw meaningful conclusions,” PORAC’s study said.
“Unfortunately, RIPA has pursued an inherently flawed approach to assessing police stop data that both misrepresents the data itself and misleads the public to believe things that simply are not true,” PORAC’s research concluded.
